Amad names one ‘underrated’ Man Utd teammate, and Michael Carrick is a ‘big fan’

Amad has claimed that one of his teammates at Manchester United is ‘underrated’ and Michael Carrick has also offered the player some praise.

Manchester United have been in excellent form under Michael Carrick since he took charge on an interim basis until the end of the season.

After four consecutive wins against Manchester City, Arsenal, Fulham and Tottenham Hotspur, the Reds secured a well-earned away point against West Ham on Tuesday evening.

It was the first game under Carrick where United did not impress with their performance but they worked hard and found an equaliser in the final moments of the clash.

There is now a break until their next clash with Everton and Carrick will be hoping to get back to winning ways as the Reds chase qualification to the Champions League next term.

Amad names one ‘underrated’ Man Utd teammate

Several players have been finding their best form since Carrick arrived at United, with the likes of Bryan Mbeumo, Benjamin Šeško and Bruno Fernandes impressing.

But when Amad was speaking with ESPN, he described another teammate as ‘underrated’. The Ivorian was asked to describe some of his teammates in one word.

When Mason Mount’s name came up, Amad responded, “the underrated one”. He forgot to only use one word but it is not too surprising that he thought of that when it came to Mount.

Managers always seem to appreciate what Mount brings to the table and despite the fact he is currently injured, Carrick appears to have the same opinion.

“I’m a big fan of Mason. There are so many things to like about him. His quality to start with, his personality, his attitude,” said Carrick recently.

“That’s why we’ve got the squad; certain times, certain games, certain players will play. As we work through the season, that’ll come to fruition. I like Mason a lot and he’s an important player for this team and this club.”

Where will Mount play?

Mount has been injured in the last couple of weeks but he did impress off the bench in Carrick’s first game against City.

The midfielder will likely be back for the next game with Everton but it is still uncertain where he fits into the team if he plays.

Under Ruben Amorim, it was always clear that Mount would play as one of the no.10s in the 3-4-2-1 formation but he isn’t as suited to a position on the wing.

He could play from the left and come inside the pitch, like Matheus Cunha has done, but that would work more if United had a more attacking threat from left-back.

Mount could also be used in midfield, most likely as the no.8 in the midfield three if Kobbie Mainoo needs rotation or suffers injury.
