Amad’s two-word reaction to new Manchester United contract says it all about Rúben Amorim’s project
Amad’s two-word reaction to his new Manchester United contract says everything about the project Rúben Amorim is trying to build at Old Trafford.
Amid weeks of turmoil and poor performances since Rúben Amorim replaced Erik ten Hag as Manchester United’s new head coach, Amad has been a breath of fresh air at Old Trafford.
Alongside Manuel Ugarte and Noussair Mazraoui, Amad has been the club’s best and most consistent performer, having contributed to eight goals in 12 appearances under the Portuguese boss.
While some have struggled to adapt to the new 3-4-3 system implemented at United, Amad has taken to it like a duck to water, performing brilliantly initially in the right wing-back positions before starring in the wide attacking role on the same flank.
Amad had a long start to life at the club, heading out on multiple loan spells and sidelined through a knee injury before Ten Hag refused to use him until the end of the 2023/24 campaign.
However, once the Dutchman departed, life turned on its head for the young Ivorian international, anad Amad is now regarded as one of only two untouchable players at the club.
Amad’s reaction to his new United contract
United’s 2025 has started well, with a positive 2-2 draw against Liverpool followed by an announcement that Amad has signed a new five-year deal with the club until 2030.
Amad’s previous contract was set to expire at the end of June, but following his brilliant start to life under Amorim, the club saw his extension as a priority.
The 22-year-old has reacted to his contract with a simple two-word message on social media platform X, which can be seen below.
However, he did also give a statement to the club which described his feelings in more length, stating: “I am really proud to have signed this new contract. I have had some incredible moments with this club already but there is so much more to come. I have huge ambitions in the game and I want to achieve history at Manchester United.
“I have learnt so much since arriving here four years ago; I am very grateful to the coaches and staff who have helped me to develop, and to the fans for driving me forward every day.
“It has been a difficult season for everyone, but I fully believe that we are on the right path and the future is going to be really special. I am ready to give everything to help the team and make our supporters proud again.”
Amad’s reaction says it all about Amorim’s project
If United had chosen to keep Ten Hag and not install Amorim as the club’s new head coach, many feel that Amad would have refused to sign a new deal and left the club for free in June 2025.
However, with the 39-year-old now at the helm, Amad has a new lease of life and is set to become a Premier League regular for seasons to come.
If a player such as Amad, who has been through the worst at United from an individual perspective, has completely bought into the project, this speaks volumes about the success Amorim will hopefully have at the club.
Amid a turbulent time at United due to financial restraints and growing discontent between the club’s fans and owners, Amad is a shining beacon of hope.
