Amad issues fresh injury update as Rúben Amorim sees second “incredible” Man Utd star return vs Lyon

Amad has issued a brilliant update on his injury recovery as Rúben Amorim sees a second “incredible” Manchester United player return to his squad.

In what has been a very disappointing season for Manchester United, one of very few bright spots has been the emergence of Amad.

Offered few opportunities by former manager Erik ten Hag, the Ivorian was relegated to the bench, with Antony preferred over him.

Owing to his versatility, when Ruben Amorim took over from Ten Hag, Amad showed his talent in both the right wing, and right wing back role, which gained him a spot in the starting eleven.

With Man United fans being deflated after seeing Joshua Zirkzee go off in Manchester United’s 4-1 loss to Newcastle, they were boosted by seeing Amad’s recent Instagram post.

Amad delivers injury update

Having picked up an unfortunate ankle injury in early February, it was speculated that the 22-year-old would miss the rest of the season.

Earlier this month, Amorim was asked about the condition of Amad, with him confirming the promising news that the Ivorian would be available before the end of the season, hinting that: “I think he will be ready in the final games.”

United also posted pictures of Amad in individual training last week, with a ball at his feet, suggesting he’d made decent progress in his recovery back to full fitness.

Posting on his Instagram after his side’s 4-1 defeat, he is seen running back on grass for the first time since his injury, with this latest step proving to be a big boost for Amorim’s side.

Beyond Amad’s return to individual training, Amorim also received another positive update. Ayden Heaven, who was “incredible” prior to a heartbreaking injury against Leicester City, returned to United’s matchday squad last weekend and is available against Lyon.

Is Amad the blueprint for United’s success?

Much has been made about United’s needs for a summer overhaul this summer, but could putting more trust in the youth provide more success, rather than spending exorbitant money on players that fail to deliver on that price tag?

Players like Antony, Jadon Sancho, Rasmus Højlund have all been brought in for huge fees, but have failed to justify costing anywhere near what they were bought for.

With the lack of funds available this summer, perhaps instead of looking outwards for the next players to grace the Old Trafford pitch, United should look inwards towards the next crop of youth prospects that are dominating their youth leagues.

We’ve already seen prospects such as Chido Obi and Toby Collyer get some minutes this season, yet there are still a number of youth prospects that could play a role in United’s future. Players like Jack and Tyler Fletcher, Godwill Kukonki, and Amir Ibragimov could all be players that Amorim may look to going into next season after being so impressive at the youth level.
