Amad Diallo has provided an injury update after he suffered a knockback during Manchester United’s pre-season tour of the United States.

The 20-year-old winger was substituted against Arsenal during United’s 2-0 win against The Gunners before being reintroduced to the squad the following game.

However, following an injury to his knee afterward, it was confirmed by the club that the Irovy Coast international would miss the opening stages of the Premier League season.

Amad has now taken to Instagram where he has posted an image of him at Carrington in rehabilitation. An image of his knee flared up was attached with the caption: “Step by step.”

It is unknown whether Erik ten Hag was truly planning to keep Amad in his squad for the 2023/24 campaign after an excellent season in the Championship last term, but the young winger will now have the chance at Old Trafford until at least the January Transfer Window.

His position, on the right-hand side of the front three, is currently one that has major issues. Jadon Sancho’s position at the club now seems uncertain after making a shock statement following the Arsenal loss on Sunday.

Meanwhile, Antony is facing allegations of domestic abuse against his ex-girlfriend. He has since been dropped from the Brazil national team for their upcoming fixtures but United have since released a statement that merely says that they ‘acknowledge’ those allegations but stressed that they are ‘taking this matter seriously’.

This comes soon after the club were forced to make a U-Turn on their eventual decision regarding Mason Greenwood. The 21-year-old was set to return to the Old Trafford side before fan backlash caused a change and the forward is now on loan at Spanish side Getafe.

Antony’s future is unknown – as is Sancho’s – and Amad could be looking at the situation at the club selfishly and thinking that he could provide a solution for Ten Hag.

The Ivorian winger played 43 games for Sunderland last term as he propelled them into the play-offs with his 12 goals and three assists in the league. He would then score a wondergoal in the first-leg of the semi-final against Luton Town but the Black Cats were unable to win against the eventual play-off Champions in the second-leg.

Sancho and Antony have both underwhelmed since their big-money moves from Borussia Dortmund and Ajax respectively.

Amad was bought by the club in the summer of 2020 – with the transfer then being halted until the following January due to work permit issues – and has made nine appearances for the first-team.
