Amad Diallo reveals what Ruben Amorim told him during Manchester United meeting
Amad Diallo has been one of the standout performers at Manchester United under new boss Ruben Amorim this season.
Manchester United have had a difficult season so far and linger in the bottom half of the Premier League table going into the New Year.
Erik ten Hag was sacked towards the end of October. Ruben Amorim has come in as his replacement and quickly realised the task at hand.
The Portuguese boss has won just four of his opening 10 fixtures as he looks to implement a new system and structure at Old Trafford.
That has led to many weaknesses within the squad being exposed, although there have been some positives to take from this period as well.
Amad standout player under Amorim
Amad Diallo has been the standout player under Amorim so far after starting the season well. He won the club’s Player of the Month award for August but fell out of favour under Ten Hag.
Amorim quickly identified the Ivorian’s qualities and he has started seven of the 10 games he has been in charge for, coming off the bench in the other three.
With two goals and five assists in that time, while playing at wingback and in the no.10 position, Amad has become a guaranteed starter in Amorim’s best team.
What Amorim told Amad in meeting
Amad’s energy off the ball has been a breath of fresh air at Old Trafford and his pressing has directly led to a handful of goals this term.
“We know with the manager, he demands a lot of pressing,” the 22-year-old told SuperSport. “It’s a new system for everyone and yeah, we are just here to follow him and give our best on the pitch.”
The young player also explained that the new head coach has been trying to give him advice to improve during a recent meeting.
“We had a meeting with him, he said to me… he tried to help me with what I can improve,” Amad continued.
“Like when I play right wingback, what I have to improve in defence. And when I play number ten, what I have to improve in attack, you know.
“He’s trying to help everyone but in the same moment, he is here to win and we know that. We want to win also, we will follow him and let’s see what we can achieve.”
