Manchester United forward Amad Diallo has been one of the most exciting breakthrough talents in the Premier League this season.

Amad Diallo’s success at Manchester United has been long-awaited, with the Ivorian initially signing for the club in January 2021.

Loan spells, injuries and preferences for other players have all been reasons behind his lack of involvement beforehand but he is now finally breaking through as a first-team regular.

The 22-year-old has scored five goals and delivered seven assists so far this season and is expected to be an important player going forward under Ruben Amorim.

Amad explains goal celebration inspiration

During his time at Sunderland on loan, Amad would celebrate almost every goal the same way, with one hand on his ear and the other over the top of the opposite side’s eye.

United fans also saw this when he netted his first goal for the club in the 2020/21 Europa League against AC Milan.

However, this season he has changed it up, with the player now putting his one hand on the heart while pointing the index finger of the other hand to the sky.

Amad has since revealed that it was Real Madrid star and fellow Muslim Arda Guler as the inspiration for his new celebration.

“Yeah, this celebration. I saw this first with Arda Guler, who plays for Real Madrid. I tried to do the same celebration because I like [it],” Amad told club media.

“This was the game against PAOK in the Europa League where I scored two goals, we won in Europe after one year [of not getting a victory], so it meant a lot for me and the team.

“I like to score, and this happening in the Europa League, I was just happy. I want to make history for this club.”

Amad says Guler is ‘one of the best’

Arda Guler has been impressing in Spain and also was a standout performer at Euro 2024 with Turkey. Speaking about the celebration before, he said: “It’s based on trust. I believe that everything comes from Allah.”

Amad continued to offer compliments to a player he believes is ‘one of the best’ at the moment. Although, the United starlet explained that his own celebration may be coming back soon.

“Yeah, I like him,” Amad smiled. “He’s a good guy, a good young player. A top player who plays for Real Madrid, one of the best right now in the world.

“So, I saw his celebration, so I tried to copy him because I like his celebration. Maybe the next goal, I don’t do the same or maybe I do my celebration. But, right now, I’m doing this!”
