Amad Diallo makes Man Utd position stance clear to Ruben Amorim in latest interview
Amad Diallo has made his stance on his position as a right wingback clear to Manchester United boss Ruben Amorim in his latest interview.
Amad Diallo has started brilliantly under new Manchester United head coach Ruben Amorim, assisting three times in four appearances so far.
He has started twice and come off the bench in the other two games, playing all of those fixtures at right wingback.
Amorim’s new 3-4-3 system puts major importance on the two wingbacks and Amad has proven to be very good at the role in the small amount of games played so far.
He has managed to still provide an attacking influence while also contributing in defence and build-up phases.
Despite his strong form in the position, many are hoping that Amad will eventually be moved further forward in the team once a stronger wingback is available on the right side.
Noussair Mazraoui and Diogo Dalot have needed to adapt to different positions in these opening games due to the personnel available but both players are likely to be options at right wingback once the entire squad is fully fit.
That would ideally allow Amad to move into one of the no.10 positions behind the striker, where he can get more touches on the ball closer to goal.
In a new interview with the Telegraph, Amad touched on his role in the team and explained that he willing to ‘play anywhere’ for the team.
However, he did also emphasis that he has played in the no.10 position beforehand and is comfortable in the forward positions.
“When I was at Atalanta I was No.10 but I can play left or right winger and everywhere as a forward. I am ready to play anywhere,” Amad explained.
Many are hoping he has the chance to prove himself in those positions and also that he signs new contract terms at Old Trafford.
His deal runs out at the end of the season but Amorim recently displayed his confidence that an agreement would be reached this week and Amad seems to have the same opinion.
The reporter also asked Amad about his long-term future, and in response he ‘mentioned [about] staying at Old Trafford for the rest of his career’.
