Manchester United attacker Amad has posted a statement regarding his future at the club following the side’s 2-1 victory over Crystal Palace on Sunday.
Under Michael Carrick, Amad had been in the starting lineup every game since his appointment. However, in Sunday’s fixture, the Ivorian found himself demoted to the bench, entering the fold in the 75th minute when United were 2-1 up against 10 men and coasting to all three points.
The 23-year-old has been a bright spot in what has been a tumultuous few seasons for the Red Devils and has proved himself to be Premier League quality, serving as one of United’s key attacking threats over the last two seasons.
Under Ruben Amorim, Amad found himself playing a few roles across the season, which did not help the youngster’s development, but under Carrick, the winger seems to have found consistency and fully embraced the interim boss’s 4-3-3 formation.
Sunday was the first time Amad was dropped from a Carrick side, and it is unknown whether that was down to a tactical decision or just resting the attacker. However, following the game, Amad made a post on Snapchat which has left a few in the fanbase worried for his future.
Amad drops cryptic message in Snapchat post
Manchester United’s 2-1 win over Crystal Palace moved them into third place in the Premier League, capitalising on Aston Villa’s disappointing loss to relegation-bound Wolves. Spirits around the club are higher than ever, and fans are finally feeling real optimism regarding the end of the season.
However, after Amad was replaced by Benjamin Šeško in the starting line-up, it seems his grudges lingered past the full-time whistle and spread on social media.
The Ivorian posted a Snapchat story containing a picture of him celebrating and a quote which read: “What is meant to grow does not stay in the same place forever.”
It is important not to jump to any conclusions regarding the post, but the message has worried fans of the club and the player, as it seems even Amad is unsure about his future at Old Trafford.
It could be described as petulant if it is a dig at Carrick, given that it was the first time he had not started under the interim boss, and how good Sesko has been in front of goal recently. However, it could be unrelated to his future at the club and may even be regarding a personal matter.

How much would United miss Amad?
Amad’s performances this season have been understandably patchy; this is due to his participation in the African Cup of Nations in January and a regime change at the club upon his return from international duty.
He has not managed a goal contribution for United in 2026 so far and has only managed four in total for the season so far. Whilst it has not been his most prolific campaign, it has been a season where he still proves himself to be one of the more direct and creative players at Michael Carrick’s disposal.

The signings of Bryan Mbuemo and Matheus Cunha have also meant Amad has more competition for places against similar direct and creative players. However, this has also meant United have gotten stronger in the depth of the side.
Ultimately, the departure of Amad is not what any United fan wants to see, but if it were to happen during the summer transfer window, it would likely not be due to another club poaching him because of his recent good performances.
