All the details: Manchester United draw Reading in the FA Cup fourth round

After handing Everton a 3-1 defeat on Friday evening, Manchester United have been drawn against Reading for the fourth round of the FA Cup.

Reading booked their place in the fourth round through a 2-0 victory over Watford on Saturday afternoon, with Kelvin Abrefa and Shane long netting in the third minute of extra time at the end of each half, respectively.

Manchester United will be looking to advance to the fifth round after failing at this hurdle last season after defeat against Middlesborough.

When will the fixture be played?

The fourth round of the FA Cup will be played between the 27-30th of January, although the exact kick-off times for each fixture are yet to be confirmed.

United could be playing in the EFL Cup semi-final just days before the fixture, depending on the result of the Red Devils’ fixture against Charlton Athletic on Tuesday evening.

Where will the fixture be played?

As Manchester United were drawn out of the hat first, the fixture will be held at Old Trafford, just like the aforementioned Everton fixture in round three of the competition.

When did the two sides last meet?

Reading and Manchester United last met in January 2019 in the FA Cup, with United running out 2-0 victors after a goal from Juan Mata and penalty from Romelu Lukaku saw Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s men through the FA Cup third round.

In competitive fixtures, United have only ever lost once to Reading – a 2-1 loss in the FA Cup back in 1927. United have a total of 14 wins against the side from the south, with 7 fixtures ending in stale mate.

Yes. The winner of Manchester City/Chelsea will face either Arsenal or Oxford United.

Brighton will play the winner of Liverpool against Wolves, with the two sides needing a replay to decide who goes through after the sides drew 2-2 on Saturday evening.

Tottenham will play Preston North End.
