All nine players suspended or injured for Man Utd vs Bournemouth as Premier League confirm referee

Bournemouth will see one of their stars banned from playing as they travel to face Rúben Amorim’s Manchester United on Monday evening.

Manchester United will look to steady their form when they host Bournemouth at Old Trafford on Monday night.

Rúben Amorim’s previous match brought one of the biggest results of his spell so far, with Bruno Fernandes’ brace, plus goals from Bryan Mbeumo and Mason Mount, securing a 4-1 win over Wolverhampton Wanderers. Even so, the continued wait for a clean sheet put a slight dampener on the occasion.

United have been hard to beat lately, losing just once in nine league games, but with only two wins in their last six, questions remain about how convincing their performances truly are.

Bournemouth, meanwhile, come into the game after a difficult run of four losses and two draws in their last six Premier League matches. Yet despite current struggles, they boast an impressive recent record at Old Trafford, having claimed successive 3-0 victories there in the past two seasons.

Premier League confirm match referee

Simon Hooper (pictured above) will be the referee on Monday evening in Manchester. Hooper has officiated nine Premier League fixtures this season, making them his only competitive matches in 2025/26 to date.

Hooper has officiated United just once this campaign, on the opening weekend, when United fell short against Arsenal 1-0 and Matheus Cunha was controversially denied a penalty.

This season, Hooper has issued 42 yellow cards in the Premier League. He has issued two straight red cards this season and awarded one penalty, which Igor Thiago converted for Brentford in a 3-2 win over Liverpool.

During the game, Adrian Holmes and Simon Long will serve as Hooper’s assistant referees. Rob Jones will be the fourth official on Monday evening, separating Amorim and Andoni Iraola.

Paul Howard has been appointed as the Video Assistant Referee. Sian Massey-Ellis will act as assistant VAR.

Up to nine players could miss United vs Bournemouth

Amorim is awaiting injury updates on three United players ahead of the Monday night clash, with hope that Benjamin Šeško or Harry Maguire may be able to return, both of whom were injured in a draw with Tottenham last month.

The United boss also admitted that he does not know when Matthijs de Ligt will be able to return to action, although Ayden Heaven stepped up well against Wolves earlier this week.

As for Bournemouth, they could be missing several key players due to injury. Defender Marcos Senesi (cramps), Veljko Milosavljevic (knee injury), Matai Akinmboni (muscle problem) are all doubts for the game, while midfielder Ryan Christie is not expected back until later this month.

Winger Ben Doak is nursing a hamstring problem and is not due to return to action until February. Long-serving midfielder Lewis Cook has been suspended for the game after picking up a red card against Sunderland last month.

Both managers are expected to provide fresh injury updates on Friday afternoon during their pre-match press conferences ahead of the weekend’s action.
