Alejandro Garnacho’s new Manchester United shirt number confirmed as Rasmus Hojlund set to wear different number
Alejandro Garnacho’s brother Roberto has confirmed his new Manchester United shirt number in a post on social media platform X.
Garnacho, 18, broke through into Erik ten Hag’s side last season and made a huge impact with his performances from the left-hand side.
It seemed like the teenager would take on the responsibility of the iconic no.7 shirt at Old Trafford until Mason Mount came in and was given the number.
Having worn no.49 last term, Garnacho has started the new season with the same number but his brother has since revealed a new strip for Garnacho.
On social media platform X, Roberto uploaded an image with Alejandro captioned “AG17” with the pair both wearing United shirts with Garnacho and no.17 on the back. The winger also had kits for the child that he and his partner are expecting.
The no.17 did seem to be the number that new signing Rasmus Hojlund would pick up. However, with Garnacho taking the number it seems likely that the no.11 could be opening up for him.
Mason Greenwood will not return to Old Trafford after official confirmation from the club last week. He is set to either leave on loan, a permanent deal, or a termination of his contract.
This would leave the no.11 shirt free for Hojlund to take, who is yet to play a game for United but is in line to make his debut against Arsenal this weekend.
