Alejandro Garnacho shuts down Lionel Messi rumour, his reaction is brilliant
Manchester United winger Alejandro Garnacho has shut down a rumour surrounding his relationship with Argentine legend Lionel Messi.
Garnacho, 20, was included in the Argentina squad that won the 2024 Copa America this summer after excelling for United last term.
Despite his minor role in the tournament, starting only one game, Garnacho would have learnt many things working with the world-class squad throughout the last month.
Yet, there have been confusing rumours being spread on social media in recent days and the United star has now responded in the perfect way.
A clip from the Copa America has circulated on social media platform X, in which Garnacho simply walks past Lionel Messi near the dugout.
Partly due to Garnacho’s obvious appreciation for his former teammate Cristiano Ronaldo, many fans have attempted to claim that it showed some sort of dispute between the young star and the Barcelona legend.
In response to an account on X which posted the video, Garnacho commented with an image of him and Messi celebrating together, accompanied by a facepalm emoji.
The 20-year-old quite clearly admires both Messi and Ronaldo. “Messi or Ronaldo? They’re both amazing and great for me; I’m admiring them both,” he has previously said.
Garnacho is set to return to United in just over two weeks and is likely to miss out on the United States tour.
The electric winger could be in contention to play in the Community Shield against Manchester City on 10 August.
