Alejandro Garnacho sends message to Scott McTominay as Napoli’s stance on summer transfer revealed

Alejandro Garnacho is expected to leave Manchester United this summer and Napoli were among those interested in signing him in the January transfer window.

Manchester United are ready to part ways with Alejandro Garnacho after he criticised Ruben Amorim’s decision to bench him for the Europa League final.

Garnacho played 20 minutes against Tottenham Hotspur – his brother and agent Roberto also slammed the United boss on social media, saying that the winger was “thrown under the bus”.

This was not the first time that the Garnacho brothers had caused a stir online. The Argentine apologised to Amorim and offered to buy his teammates dinner after an ill-timed Instagram post after he was substituted against Ipswich Town.

His performances on the pitch have been inconsistent and United seem to be prepared to cash in on him so that the money can be reinvested into new signings this summer.

Amorim told Garnacho this week that he does not have a future at Old Trafford and should look for a new club this summer. Napoli and Chelsea were among the clubs his agents spoke to in January.

Napoli’s stance on Garnacho transfer

Napoli won the Serie A title this week and Scott McTominay was awarded the Player of the Year in the Italian division after his extraordinary debut campaign in Naples.

The former United midfielder took to Instagram to celebrate after they secured the title win on Friday night and Garnacho was among those to congratulate his ex-teammate. “Well deserved bro!!! 👑❤️,” he wrote.

It is well known that the Italian side were eyeing a deal for the 20-year-old winger in the January window to replace Khvicha Kvaratskhelia, who departed for Paris Saint-Germain.

Now, according to TeamTalk, Napoli are set to step up to push for Garnacho again this summer, and are going to produce an improved bid in the coming weeks.

Antonio Conte is said to be a fan of the player and will be pushing his club to secure the deal this summer, and United are willing to sell at the right price.

United need to replace Garnacho well

Many fans are now questioning the sale of McTominay from last summer and it would be no surprise to see Garnacho become a success if he moves to Naples as well.

But the main reason why McTominay is being mentioned isn’t because he’s doing brilliantly in Italy but it’s because United are doing poorly, and his replacement has major question marks over him.

Manuel Ugarte came in after the Scotsman’s departure and has failed to showcase why he is a top level midfielder who should be starting in a successful United side.

If the replacement for the departing player is better than them, or fits the system perfectly and leads to the team doing better, there will be no complaints.

United need to ensure that whoever they end up bringing in with the money made by Garnacho’s sale is good enough to warrant getting rid of a player who has a promising future in the game.
