Alejandro Garnacho has reacted after Chelsea reached an agreement with Manchester United to sign the 21-year-old winger this summer.
Manchester United have reportedly agreed to sell Alejandro Garnacho to Chelsea this summer in a deal valued at £40 million.
The Reds had initially valued the winger between £50-60 million but his preference to join the Stamford Bridge club and reject other offers forced United’s hand.
The 21-year-old broke into United’s first team under Erik ten Hag and even scored in last season’s FA Cup final win over Manchester City.
However, he was sidelined from the squad this summer and instructed to find a new club after making critical comments about Ruben Amorim and the club following the Europa League final defeat.
Garnacho reacts after Chelsea agreement reached
Garnacho’s move to Chelsea has felt inevitable for some weeks now but it is good for all parties that an agreement has finally been reached.
Shortly after the agreement was made between the clubs, Garnacho reacted on social media by taking United out of his Instagram bio, replacing it with “100% God”.
Meanwhile, United have included a sell-on clause in Garnacho’s contract at Chelsea. It is said to be around 10 per cent of a future fee.
Since they could not get their desired £50 million, this is a useful clause to include in the deal considering Chelsea’s transfer strategy.
Garnacho given too much too soon at United
Garnacho’s exit splits opinion within the United fanbase. He made mistakes, particularly on social media, but had come through the club’s academy.
He was the standout performer in the 2022 FA Youth Cup winning side and his playstyle was one which the Old Trafford crowd appreciated greatly.
In the end, he was probably thrown into the spotlight too soon and given too much significance before he was ready to handle it.

For example, he went from a super-sub in 2022/23 to being one of the players with the most starts in the following campaign. It changed a bit too quickly.
He will be aiming to prove any doubters wrong at Stamford Bridge and it will certainly be interesting to see how he gets on there.
