Alejandro Garnacho has made a major admission about a potential transfer away from Manchester United after losing the Europa League final.
Manchester United put in a woeful performance in the Europa League final against Tottenham Hotspur, ending their season on an embarrassing note.
Conceding in the first half due to poor defending was no shock—it’s been a recurring issue all season.
What stood out even more was their complete lack of attacking intent. Amad showed glimpses of quality in the first half but was largely ineffective after the break.
Bruno Fernandes had a night to forget, and with the captain off his game, no one else managed to fill the creative void.
Failing to find the net over 90 minutes against a Tottenham side equally known for defensive frailties is simply staggering.
Garnacho makes major United transfer admission
Many people believed that Alejandro Garnacho deserved to start the game in Bilbao, simply because of his pace in behind. Amorim instead opted to play Mason Mount.
Garnacho came off the bench after 70 minutes and made some impact but Spurs fell back into a defensive block soon afterwards and stopped any chance of runs in behind.
After the game, Garnacho sent a shocking message when speaking to journalists, admitting that he will ‘see what happens’ this summer in what seems to be an admission that he’s open to leaving Old Trafford.
“I played every round to help the team reach the final, and today I only got 20 minutes,” the Argentine told the media, as per AlbicelesteTalk.
“I don’t know. I will try to enjoy the summer and then see what happens.”
United have more important things to worry about
This follows on from a social media post from Garnacho’s brother, which reads: “Working as no one else, helping every round, coming from two goals last two finals, just to be on the pitch for 19 mins and get thrown under the bus.”
There are many problems at United but this is perhaps an example of one of the biggest.
Yes, maybe Garnacho should have started the game, but to respond in such a way when you have proven nothing, and been a big part of the worst United team in modern history, is pathetic.
There are a select few players who can hold their head high after this dreadful season, and he is not one of them. These social media posts are not the first either.
United have many more problems to worry about than a player who clearly thinks they are much better than they are, and it feels like we could be heading towards a summer split if his post-match comments are anything to go by.
