Alejandro Garnacho faces bleak transfer reality after informing Manchester United of ideal destination

Alejandro Garnacho is facing a bleak transfer reality after informing Manchester United of his ideal destination this summer.

Alejandro Garnacho is one of five Manchester United players expected to leave the club this summer, following confirmation from Rúben Amorim that he is not part of his first-team plans.

Pre-season training is already underway at Carrington, with players like Matheus Cunha and Mason Mount back in action, while the rest of the squad reported back on Thursday.

Garnacho, along with Marcus Rashford, Tyrell Malacia, Antony, and Jadon Sancho, has been told to stay away from first-team sessions as they explore potential moves away from Old Trafford. The club’s facilities remain available for their individual use, but separate from the main group.

The Argentine winger made 40 appearances under Amorim last season, but tensions rose after he publicly criticised the manager’s decisions following the Europa League final defeat to Tottenham Hotspur, leading to a breakdown in their relationship.

Garnacho wants to remain in the Premier League

Garnacho’s pending departure is not a transfer many would have predicted when he made his debut just a few seasons ago, but it has become an eventuality following multiple disciplinary issues.

The winger has proven himself as a Premier League and Champions League-level player since bursting onto the scene at United, and is looking to continue in those two competitions this summer.

According to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, Garnahco has made it clear to all parties this summer that his priority is and remains to continue in the Premier League next season.

There is no chance of the winger returning to the squad this summer, with Amorim being very clear that once that level of trust is broken, there is no way back into the starting XI or first-team squad.

Garnacho is facing a bleak transfer reality

Despite his desire to remain in England, the fact of the matter is that there is yet to be much significant interest from any sides that he would be open to.

Previously reported, the player has further claimed that his ultimate preference would be a move to London, with Chelsea therefore the likeliest destination. Arsenal are set to sign Noni Madueke from the Blues for £52 million, while Tottenham have just signed Mohammed Kudus from West Ham.

Chelsea have held a long-standing interest in Garnacho and were rumoured to be closing in on a bid in January, but it never materialised, and if they were to move for the Argentina international again, it would likely be much later in the window.

Elsewhere, Aston Villa have also been touted as an interested party having lost Rashford and Marcos Asensio after the expiry of their loan deals, but are yet to make a move.

The reality for Garnacho is that although he may want to remain in the Premier League, his precarious situation at United has left few suitors.

The winger has recently turned down the chance to sign for Cristiano Ronaldo’s Al Nassr, as per The Telegraph.
