Alejandro Garnacho agrees to sign new five-year Man United deal after an impressive breakout season

Argentinian winger Alejandro Garnacho will extend his stay at Manchester United after agreeing to a new five-year deal at Old Trafford.

That information is according to ESPN, who added that certain aspects of the contract – including image rights – are still yet to be ironed out, but the promising winger is eager to commit to his long-term future at the club.

He is out of contract in 2024, but his new, shiny contract will see him stay at the club until 2028, with the financial aspect reportedly a telling incentive.

There was a point in time when the 18-year-old forward had interest from overseas and that a move away may have become the reality, but since he has dedicated his time to the 20-time domestic champions.

Garnacho began his season down the pecking order as he was viewed as the inexperienced teenager, who showed disciplinary issues, but has since produced on countless occasions.

The extension of his time at Manchester United will see a well-deserved increase in his wage packet as a reward for the role he has fulfilled in Erik ten Hag’s squad this term. Incremental salary boosts are included in the contract in case his involvement in first-team proceedings continues to increase.

Conversations between both parties have been ongoing for months since Garnacho has become a staple in Erik ten Hag’s senior team plans, but now ESPN’s source has confirmed an agreement has finally been verbally reached.

Garnacho has played his part in 25 games for Manchester United this season and has eight goal contributions in all competitions. He is widely regarded as one of the hottest prospects in England, and in a squad rich with attacking talent, he has held his own.

Most of his appearances have come from off the bench, with his most memorable moment being when he secured the victory for United as he finished off Fulham in the dying stages in style.

The youngster has often got bums of seats around Old Trafford with his willingness to drive at defenders, his undying confidence and that added edge of tenacity, and it seems this – to the delight of Manchester United fans – may be the case for the foreseeable future.

Garnacho has also been weighing up his international options recently, with Spain keen to get the starlet a part of their plans.
