Alan Shearer has been an ‘unbelievable’ prediction for Manchester United’s upcoming Premier League clash against Fulham.
Manchester United welcome Fulham to Old Trafford on Sunday, with Michael Carrick looking to extend his unbeaten start in charge.
Carrick has guided United to consecutive victories over Manchester City and Arsenal in his opening two matches, securing six points against the Premier League’s leading sides. The performances were impressive, highlighting the team’s composure and quality in high-pressure fixtures.
This weekend presents a different challenge, as an in-form Fulham side arrive in Manchester hoping to spring a surprise. The visitors currently occupy seventh place in the table, just four points behind United in fourth.
Unlike the recent clashes with City and Arsenal, United will be expected to dominate proceedings and secure a positive result against the Cottagers.
Shearer makes ‘unbelievable’ United vs Fulham prediction
Despite this being a different kind of challenge for the Reds, they have still been backed to secure a positive result by Premier League legend Alan Shearer.
The ex-Newcastle forward does believe that Harry Wilson is a standout player for the clash but backs Carrick’s side to secure all three points.
“A month ago, I would’ve said I haven’t really got a clue and maybe go for Fulham away win. But I think what we’ve seen in the two games with Michael Carrick has been unbelievable,” he told Betfair.
“I don’t see any reason why they can’t win this; I know Dorgu will be out injured for a while, but I don’t think that should upset them too much in terms of the balance.
“I know Fulham got a decent win last week, and Harry Wilson is having an unbelievable season. He’s having the season of his life. He’s having his best season ever and he’s scored some remarkable goals, hasn’t he? It’s incredible.
“However, I think Man United in the form they’re in, the belief and confidence and how everyone will be looking forward to that game at Old Trafford and driving them on, I would go Man United home win.”
United cannot be complacent vs Fulham
United will have confidence heading into this game and while that is important, the team cannot be complacent at all.
Fulham might not be a ‘big’ team in the division but they are in fine form and will cause problems for Carrick’s side if they’re not ready for the clash.
“Tough game, tough challenge, I think Marco [Silva] has got Fulham into a really good team. It’s Fulham, just because we are at home, taking anything for granted is bang out of order,” said Carrick.
Securing three more points will put United in a good position after their recent wins over City and Arsenal, as the Reds try to secure Champions League football for next term.
