Manchester United face a tough test against Fulham in the FA Cup this weekend and Alan Shearer is concerned with Ruben Amorim’s side’s form.

With little left to play for in the Premier League, Manchester United sit 14th and far from European qualification.

Ruben Amorim’s side must now focus entirely on the FA Cup and Europa League, their only remaining chances for silverware after exiting the Carabao Cup.

Having reached the FA Cup final in the past two seasons—most recently beating Manchester City at Wembley to win in 2024—United are aiming for a third consecutive appearance, a feat the club have achieved only once before.

Fulham are their upcoming opponents in the FA Cup fifth-round, and they head to Old Trafford in strong away form, having lost just once on the road since early December.

Alan Shearer delivers shock United vs Fulham score prediction

Alan Shearer has predicted the clash between the two teams and believes that Fulham are going to edge out Amorim’s side on the day.

The ex-Newcastle striker states that United were “all over the place” in their 3-2 win over Ipswich Town and is far from impressed by their form.

“This is a tough one to call,” Shearer wrote in his Metro column ahead of the game. “I’ll be there at Old Trafford doing co-commentary live on the BBC.

“I watched the Man Utd game for the first-half against Ipswich and once again they were all over the place. This game is a tough one to call.

“It will be a long afternoon – I’m not impressed with Man United, they’re in a really tough situation at the moment, so I’m going to go for an away win.”

Fulham eyeing FA Cup revenge on United

Fulham will be eager to beat United after losing against the struggling Reds in both of their Premier League outings this season.

In fact, the London-based side will even be looking back even further for revenge, after United knocked them out of the FA Cup in stunning fashion two years ago.

In the 2022/23 FA Cup quarter-final, Manchester United secured a 3-1 win over Fulham in a dramatic encounter at Old Trafford.

Fulham led for much of the game before chaos unfolded—Willian was sent off for a handball on the line, followed by Aleksandar Mitrovic and manager Marco Silva, who also saw red for his reaction.

United took full advantage of the turmoil, scoring three late goals to book their place in the semi-finals of the competition.

Silva’s side will undoubtably have those bitter memories in their heads before trying to get revenge against United this time around.
