Alan Shearer has issued harsh criticism to Manchester United for one of the deals they made in the summer transfer window.
Manchetser United paid a whopping fee of £74 million for Slovenian striker Benjamin Sesko during the summer transfer window.
Since then, former Newcastle United legend Alan Shearer has come out knocking United’s decision sharing his limited confidence in the 22-year-old from what he’s so far seen since he’s joined the Reds.
Since joining the club, Sesko has scored just two goals in his 12 appearances he’s played with many pundits concerned about a turn in the young player’s form since making the move from RB Leipzig.
With only two goals scored and making it into just six out of 11 of head coach Ruben Amorim’s starting 11, some people are starting to make the argument that Sesko wasn’t worth the price tag.
Amorim’s stance on Sesko’s ability
The striker has been incredibly sought after by United, with the club pursuing him in previous transfer windows, so securing him in the summer came with an inevitable fee.
With an over £70 million move and an underwhelming start to this year’s Premier League season, people have started to ask questions about whether Sesko’s move was truly worth it for United.
Concern has only grown since United’s most recent fixture against Tottenham Hotspur after Benjamin Sesko was substituted off due to injury.
Amorim expressed his concern over Sesko’s current condition after the game, tactically ignoring any questions regarding the striker’s form.
“That is not the biggest concern now. That happens especially with strikers. I am more concerned with an injury because it’s the knee; we don’t know. We need Ben [Sesko] to be a better team. I have no idea because it’s the knee we never know.”
Shearer slams Šeško deal
As previously noted, Shearer has been one of the voices of criticism towards Sesko’s impact on United. When speaking to BetFair, the former Newcastle striker issued some harsh criticism to the new signing.
“One player that must do better for United is Sesko,” the ex-Premier League striker stated. “They paid £70 odd million for him.

“That was a lot of money. I know it’s the market, but it’s too much. He’s a tough start and I don’t expect huge things from him, to be honest.
“I think he’s a good player, but I’m not sure he’s any more than that. He should have scored a couple more goals than he has so far. It’s been a tough start for him, especially considering the money United paid.”
