Ayden Heaven made his Premier League debut on the weekend as Manchester United drew 1-1 against his former side Arsenal.

Manchester United signed Ayden Heaven in the most recent January transfer window from Arsenal for a reported £1.5 million.

The young defender immediately joined the first-team squad and was named on the bench for several games before making his debut against Fulham.

After impressing in that game despite the Reds losing on penalties, Heaven was gifted his Premier League debut on Sunday evening against his former team.

Leny Yoro was forced to come off at half-time with an injury and Heaven came into the side at left centre-back.

The 18-year-old dealt with Arsenal’s attackers very well and looked comfortable on the ball throughout. It was a promising half that earned the youngster praise amongst the fanbase.

Shearer and Richards agree on brilliant Heaven

It was not only United supporters who applauded Heaven’s debut, but also former Premier League players Alan Shearer and Micah Richards.

The punditry duo spoke about the teenager’s impact on their podcast, The Rest Is Football, with Richards describing Heaven’s start to the game as “brilliant”.

“I thought he did really well. He looked comfortable and assured and a couple of important tackles and blocks. Yeah, he did really well in the second half, he did,” Shearer claimed.

Richards then added: “I think when he watched the game, his first touch was a header because I always watch defenders when they come up. Just make sure your first touch is good.

“The ball came in and he headed away, it was brilliant and that’s when you can get the confidence. You just want to do the basics, don’t you? And I thought he did the basics really well when he came on for Yoro.”

Heaven could get full debut soon

Heaven’s situation at Old Trafford may get even more interesting ahead of the second-leg clash against Real Sociedad in the Europa League.

The Reds could be without Yoro and Harry Maguire to go along with the injured Lisandro Martínez and Jonny Evans.

Amorim’s lack of options could end up leading to Heaven receiving his full debut for the club in one of the most important games of the season.

Maguire suffered an injury last week against Fulham but could rush back to help the United backline. Otherwise, Heaven and Victor Lindelöf may be thrown into that Sociedad fixture.

If he doesn’t end up starting that game, it doesn’t seem like it will take long until Heaven is starting games for the club.
