Aaron Wan-Bissaka has broken his silence on conversations with Manchester United chiefs which ‘opened his eyes’ before his move to West Ham in the summer.

Manchester United decided to sell Aaron Wan-Bissaka to West Ham in the summer for a reported £15 million.

Wan-Bissaka, 26, had joined the Reds in 2019 for a £50 million package from Crystal Palace after a terrific debut campaign in the Premier League.

The right-back played a key role under Ole Gunnar Solskjær and while his minutes were not as consistent when Erik ten Hag took charge.

However, he still played a major role in the success experienced under the Dutchman, especially in the two finals which were won.

Ultimately, it seemed like the right decision to part ways with Wan-Bissaka. His replacement, Noussair Mazraoui, has been one of United’s best players so far this season.

Now, the 26-year-old West Ham defender has finally opened up on the transfer and his conversations with United chiefs before moving back to London.

“I spoke to the club and they thought this opportunity was best for me,” Wan-Bissaka told The Standard.

“They gave me some time to think about it. In the moment, I didn’t, but I spoke to family and friends about it and we all decided it was the right time.

“It could have gone another way. They said it in a way which kind of opened my eyes to see what was actually best for me.”

Wan-Bissaka has made 10 appearances for West Ham so far this season and started the 2-1 win against The Reds before Ten Hag’s dismissal.
