4 Manchester United players with a point to prove after World Cup
Manchester United returned to action following the World Cup with a Carabao Cup win over Burnley with Marcus Rashford and Christian Eriksen grabbing the goals in the 2-0 victory.
There are many players with question marks on their heads as Erik ten Hag looks to continue improving the squad at Old Trafford.
Former Red, Mikael Silvestre, believes that there are four players that should be looking to show their talents going forward now that the Qatar-based tournament is behind us.
“The English players like Marcus Rashford, Luke Shaw, and Harry Maguire will come back with a positive mindset,” he told Betting Expert. “They’ll have a better second half of the season.”
“I hope Anthony Martial will be fit and score goals. He needs to play regularly for the team and bring his qualities to the team,” the former defender added.
Maguire and Shaw have often found themselves in the firing line when playing at United, whilst their form for their country has never been in question. They both had positive tournaments with The Three Lions.
Rashford has found his confidence after a disappointing season last term, scoring his ninth goal of the season against Burnley on Wednesday. Whilst Martial is looking to find some consistency after a stop-start campaign thus far.
