£30m Man Utd target ‘put up for sale’ after fair play concerns, Ruben Amorim doesn’t need to sign him

One Manchester United target has now been put up for sale this summer but Ruben Amorim should avoid signing the player.

After a poor season, Manchester United are prioritising improvements to their forward line at the start of the summer transfer window.

Matheus Cunha has already arrived, with Bryan Mbeumo likely to join him soon, with the Reds closing in on an agreement on the fee with Brentford.

Once the attacking positions are reinforced for Ruben Amorim, the club will turn their attention to other problem areas, including central midfield.

Many are expecting the club’s priorities to be in the engine room and at wingback, although there have also been murmurs about another centre-back joining.

United target put up for sale this summer

There have been several rumours about potential defensive signings at Old Trafford this summer.

According to recent reports, as per Manchester Evening News, AS Roma have put United target Evan Ndicka up for sale this summer.

The Italian club are being forced to try and sell the centre-back due to financial fair play regulations and he would cost any side around £30 million.

Ndicka played 51 times for Roma last season and the 25-year-old is likely viewed as a player who can bolster United’s backline next term.

United should avoid Ndicka signing

United’s squad would probably be bolstered by the signing of someone like Ndicka but it doesn’t seem like a move that Amorim’s side need to make this summer.

Matthijs de Ligt, Harry Maguire, Leny Yoro and Ayden Heaven are all natural centre-backs, while Lisandro Martínez is also due to be back fit early next season.

Meanwhile, players like Luke Shaw and Noussair Mazraoui are also considered as centre-backs in Amorim’s system, which means there are at least seven current players for the back three positions.

It is extremely unlikely to see any of those players being sold so it makes little sense to spend £30 million on that position in the summer. That money could be used for a new midfielder or wingback.

Ndicka has several other suitors this summer and it seems like a move to United doesn’t make sense for the defender, even if he might be an upgrade on one or two of the defenders at Old Trafford.
