There is one Manchester United player who was Rúben Amorim’s real hero as the club recorded a fantastic 3-0 Premier League victory over Leicester City.

Manchester United claimed an impressive 3-0 victory over Leicester City, with goals from Rasmus Højlund, Alejandro Garnacho, and Bruno Fernandes lifting Rúben Amorim’s side to 13th in the Premier League table.

The match began with both teams trading half-chances in the opening 20 minutes, but it wasn’t until the half-hour mark that United broke the deadlock. Fernandes delivered a superb pass to Højlund, who made no mistake with the finish to give his side the lead.

Leicester responded by pressing for an equaliser before the break, with Wilfred Ndidi and Patson Daka both coming close. However, their efforts fell short, and United went into half-time with a one-goal advantage.

Early in the second half, Ayden Heaven was stretchered off and replaced by Toby Collyer. Shortly after, Garnacho found the net, but his effort was ruled out for offside. The Argentine wouldn’t be denied for long, though, as he fired in a brilliant finish on the turn ten minutes later to double United’s lead.

With Amorim’s men in full control, Fernandes put the game beyond doubt in the final moments, producing a stunning strike to seal a commanding 3-0 win.

Amorim’s real star vs Leicester City

While Garnacho and Højlund will be given much of the praise for their two great finishes on the night, it’s the man who created their goals who must be singled out for his great display on Sunday evening.

Fernades was Amorim’s real hero aginst Liciester, with the Portugese international in complete control of the tempo of the fixture.

The 31-year-old created six chances on the night, having 76 touches and completing 47 of his 55 attempted passes.

As well as his attacking and on-the-ball duties, he also won five of his six attempted tackles, making 16 recoveries and making two clearances, as well as winning seven of his ten attempted duels.

As he has in the last few weeks, Fernandes once again showed that he is Manchester United’s real hero and saviour, with his “emphatic” finish capping off another 9/10 performance on the night.

Jones defends Fernandes after criticism

In the last few weeks, there has been a significant amount of discourse surrounding Fernandes and his style of leadership at Old Trafford, with some feeling he is too petulant to hold the armband.

However, ex-United defender and former Fernandes teammate Phil Jones came to the defence of the Portuguese international, explaining that he is a captain who leads through example rather than words.

“Listen, I think there’s different types of leaders. I can only speak from my experience playing with Bruno. He is a leader. He does lead by example.

“The players in the dressing room really look up to him. And I just think that everything that United do, every creative little pattern that comes through him, whether it’s goals, assists, whether it’s free kicks, corners, everything comes through him.

“He is the catalyst for United to go and produce big performances. I think the question marks around Bruno was perhaps, can he do that in the big games against your cities, against your arsenals?

“And I think he has proven that in the last few games. So listen, for me, he’s a good captain and he’s somebody who does lead by example.”
