“They may consider…” Man Utd’s January transfer plans revealed after Benjamin Sesko injury news

Manchester United’s January transfer plans have been revealed after the recent news surrounding Benjamin Sesko’s injury concerns.

Manchester United recruited four new players during the summer transfer window, and to some degree, all four have been an instant success at the club.

Bryan Mbeumo has been the most impressive, with four goals in his last four Premier League games, whilst Senne Lammens has provided some much-needed consistency in the United goal.

Despite these new signings, it was being rumoured that Ruben Amorim’s side would delve into the market once January arrived to try and fill out the squad further.

Given the upcoming Africa Cup of Nations and the recent injury to Benjamin Šeško, the Reds may be short of attacking depth in the coming months. Sky Sports has provided an update on what to expect in the winter transfer window at Old Trafford.

United happy with their squad

As reported by Sky Sports News on X, United are not expected to bring in any incomings in the January window, despite losing both Mbeumo and Amad to AFCON in December.

“The impression I get is that Amorim would like to strengthen,” said the Sky Sports reporter. Amorim would like to strengthen, but the reality is United are not looking to strengthen in January.

“They are very content with the business they did in the summer, and, if anything, they may consider one or two outgoings, depending on who comes in.”

Clearly, United are content with the squad that they have put together under the reign of Amorim, so it will be interesting to see if depth becomes an issue once both of their right-wingers head off to play for their countries in December.

United’s potential sales

Regarding potential exits, the reporter stated that, “The two obvious candidates there are Joshua Zirkzee and Kobbie Mainoo, both of whom have had very limited game-time this season under Ruben Amorim.

“And we know that, of course, there is no desire from Manchester United to sell either of those, but if a serious offer came in, I think United would have to consider it.

“They are not out of the woods when it comes to PSR, but their entire focus, I think, in terms of incomings, will be in the summer, when the absolute priority will be a central defensive midfielder.”

The Reds are in a tough position when it comes to depth, as they desperately need the likes of Mainoo and Zirkzee, but the two have every right to want to get consistent minutes elsewhere. Hopefully, United will figure out a situation that suits both parties.
