Ruben Amorim would reportedly be open to keeping one Manchester United star beyond the end of the season despite exit rumours surrounding the player.
Manchester United are enjoying a strong spell of form, currently unbeaten in five matches; a run that includes victories over Liverpool, Sunderland, and Brighton.
The summer’s attacking reinforcements have started to pay off, with Bryan Mbeumo emerging as a particularly impressive addition up front.
However, the team’s resurgence also owes much to Casemiro’s influence in midfield. The experienced Brazilian has been one of Ruben Amorim’s standout performers in recent weeks, playing a key role in United’s improved displays.
His contributions are especially vital given the club’s lack of midfield signings over the summer, though his contract at Old Trafford is set to expire at the end of the season.
Amorim would be open to keeping United star despite exit rumours
At the beginning of the season, everything suggested that Casemiro would depart United when his contract expires in June 2026.
But that is not as clear-cut anymore, especially as the Brazilian is trusted by Amorim and still performing well in the middle of the park, even if he cannot play twice a week anymore.
Transfer expert Graeme Bailey has explained how Amorim would be open to keeping Casemiro beyond this season and that he would prefer others in the midfield to move on before him.
Manuel Ugarte has struggled since he arrived at Old Trafford last year while Kobbie Mainoo is also struggling for game-time under Amorim.
“Casemiro is a stabilising figure within the United squad, he is one of the pillars under Ruben Amorim – who trusts him,” Bailey told UnitedInFocus.
“I’m told Amorim would be open to him staying, and if Casemiro is ready to take a drop in salary and work with United on a deal, it is not inconceivable that he stays.
“There are certainly others within the midfield department who Amorim would prefer to move on ahead of Casemiro.”
Casemiro leadership important to Amorim
No matter what happens this coming summer, United will bring in at least one or two midfield signings. Things are going to change in the middle of the park.
For the Reds, they will be thinking about who is more useful as a squad player. Someone like Casemiro will help new additions while still being an important squad member. He has also shown that he can perform when not playing too much football and not covering large zones.

Someone like Ugarte has failed to show his impact, especially as a substitute or squad player. When he comes onto the pitch, United seem to lose control.
With stronger midfield options coming in, it seems like Amorim would prefer to still have the leadership and quality of Casemiro in his squad and it would not be a surprise if contract talks occur in the coming months.
