Just days after a memorable derby day comeback, Manchester United are set to face Crystal Palace at Selhurst Park on Wednesday night. This is a rescheduled game after it was initially postponed in September.

Wednesday night’s hosts Crystal Palace currently sit seven points clear of the relegation zone. However, a defeat at the hands of United would see their deficit to the dropzone greatly reduced. They could be in further should results at the weekend not go their way.

With three points in South London on Wednesday, United have the chance to close the gap on Premier League leaders Arsenal to just six points. Erik ten Hag’s side can move to second in the league with a win, as they continue their push to catch Mikel Arteta’s men.

Manchester United – W, W, W, W, W

Manchester United’s form of late has been exceptional. They go into the game at Selhurst Park looking to make it 10 consecutive wins in all competitions.

Most recently, United earned a 2-1 victory over Manchester City at Old Trafford. Goals from Bruno Fernandes and Marcus Rashford helped United come from behind to earn an iconic derby win.

In the winning streak of nine, United have scored 23 goals, and have conceded just five times. This run of form from Ten Hag’s Red Devils has seen his side reach second in the Premier League and the Carabao Cup semi-finals, where they will face Nottingham Forest across two legs. United beat Charlton 3-0 at Old Trafford last week to reach the penultimate round of that competition.

United will be hoping to carry their excellent form into the game against Crystal Palace, especially knowing the implications that all three points can have in the coming weeks.

Crystal Palace – L, L, L, W, L

Patrick Viera’s Crystal Palace side have been in poor form in the five games they have played since Boxing Day. The Eagles have won just one in their last five outings following the resumption of club football.

Their only win came away to Bournemouth on New Year’s Eve, a game they won 2-0. They suffered three league defeats to three London rivals, Fulham, Tottenham and, most recently, struggling Chelsea. Southampton also knocked them out of the FA Cup in the third round a couple of weeks ago.

A side struggling to score goals, but whilst also conceding plenty, Palace will need to be at their best to keep out Ten Hag’s high-flying United side on Wednesday night.
