Predicted line-up: Brighton vs Manchester United

Manchester United travel to the Amex Stadium on Saturday evening to play their penultimate game of the season against Brighton. It follows on from one of United’s best performances in some time against Brentford, where they won 3-0 with goals from Cristiano Ronaldo, Bruno Fernandes and Raphael Varane.

It was a stellar showing in the number ten position by Juan Mata, who made his first appearance in the league last month in the 1-0 loss against Everton, and started his first match of the season against The Bees. He ran back the years in his final game at Old Trafford and assisted a marginally offside Ronaldo, with the goal chalked off for VAR moments afterwards.

The Spaniard could keep his place in the line-up for United, with wide-attacking depth looking slim for Ralf Rangnick as both Jadon Sancho and Marcus Rashford are ruled out of the fixture. He could remain in the middle while Bruno continues to operate from the left flank, as he did against Brentford.

Edinson Cavani could play a part for the Reds after making his first appearance for United since their second-leg loss to Atletico Madrid in the Champions League. However, it’s likely he will only feature from the bench.

Meanwhile, club captain Harry Maguire has also been confirmed as fit by Rangnick but he could see himself on the bench after Victor Lindelöf and Raphael Varane managed to keep United’s first Premier League clean sheet since the 26th of February.

Fred returned to the side last week, and could potentially challenge for a starting spot this time around, but Nemanja Matic has proved to be important for United in the middle in recent games.

Taking those different factors in mind, here is the predicted Manchester United line-up for this encounter against The Seagulls.

Manchester United predicted line-up

David de Gea;

Diogo Dalot, Victor Lindelof, Raphael Varane, Alex Telles;

Nemanja Matic, Scott McTominay;
