Manchester United vs Brentford: Predicted Line-up

On Monday night, Manchester United will play Brentford at Old Trafford in the final home match of an extraordinarily disappointing Premier League season.

The Red Devils are now in sixth position, five points behind fourth-placed Arsenal, who have two games in hand, while Brentford are in 12th place after a successful season in the Premier League.

Man United avoided a third consecutive Premier League setback on Thursday evening, drawing 1-1 with Chelsea at Old Trafford. Marcos Alonso gave the Blues the lead in the 60th minute, but Cristiano Ronaldo equalised just two minutes later to save United for yet another embarrassing result.

United’s chances of finishing in the top four have evaporated, as they have lost three of their past five games and won just one of their last six in the Premier League, leaving them in sixth position, five points behind fourth-placed Arsenal, who have two games in hand.

Brentford, meantime, has performed admirably in their first season in the Premier League, and the team appears to be on track for another season at this level.

This season, the Bees have won 11, drawn seven, and lost 16 of their 34 league games for a total of 40 points, putting them in 12th place in the table – 11 points ahead of 18th-placed Everton before the start of this game-week, who have two games in hand.

Thomas Frank‘s side will come into this encounter in fantastic form, having picked up 10 points from their last four Premier League games, including victories over Chelsea, West Ham United, and Watford, as well as a goalless draw against Tottenham Hotspur on April 23.

Right now, I don’t know but I hope Fred will make it for the Brentford game. Tonight [against Chelsea], was too early for him,” our interim manager said of Fred, who has missed our last four matches with an injury sustained in the trip to Everton earlier this month.

It would be safe to assume that Rangnick will start the game with his preferred 4-3-3 formation.

David De Gea is expected to start in goal and will be aiming to repeat his excellent shot-stopping skills just like how he did at Chelsea.

With Luke Shaw expected to miss the rest of the season, Alex Telles will definitely be starting as the left-back. Diogo Dalot is also expected to retain his starting spot with Aaron Wan-Bissaka being a doubt.

At the heart of the defence, both Raphael Varane and Victor Lindelof are expected to maintain their spots in the starting XI.

Nemanja Matic, Bruno Fernandes and Scott McTominay will constitute the midfield with Fred anticipated to start on the bench.

Marcus Rashford will most probably start on the left wing, to offer the much-needed pace in wide areas.

Anthony Elanga was not spotted with the squad ahead of tonight’s fixture, meaning Juan Mata could be in for a start on his last ever match at Old Trafford in the United red.

And of course, Cristiano Ronaldo will start up front, aiming to improve his excellent goalscoring record.

Manchester United: Predicted Line-Up

Diogo Dalot, Raphael Varane, Victor Lindelöf, Alex Telles;
