Player Ratings: Manchester United 1-1 Chelsea

Manchester United drew with Chelsea at Old Trafford on Thursday evening, making it just one win in their last seven. After going behind towards the beginning of the second half, United went into gear and Cristiano Ronaldo scored the equaliser with a great finish.

In a game with some good performances and some bad ones, here’s the player ratings for United tonight.

David de Gea – 7/10

In a game where the visiting side dominated and he was tested often, De Gea made numerous important saves to keep United in the game.

Diogo Dalot – 6/10

Lost his man for the opening goal, however won the ball back for United’s equaliser just minutes later. Average performance from the full-back.

Victor Lindelöf – 6/10

Exposed on occasion by the lack of protection in front of him, but a reasonably good performance from the Swede. Close to a winner in the dying embers.

Raphael Varane – 6/10

Similarly to his partner, Varane dealt with what came his way well, but had troubles when Chelsea ran, or passed, through United’s midfield.

Alex Telles – 4/10

He was constantly exposed on the left side throughout, leading to Marcos Alonso’s goal and rarely impressed in possession, however he was not helped by the man in front of him, especially in the first half.

Nemanja Matic – 6/10

Was dragged around in defence by Chelsea’s rotations, but rolled back the years with a stellar scooped pass to set up Cristiano Ronaldo’s equaliser.

Scott McTominay – 3/10

A positionally naïve performance, yet again, in the middle of the park. He gifted space for Chelsea too many times throughout. He also completed his first pass of the second half in the 85th minute, an embarrassment for a Manchester United’s centre-midfielder.

Bruno Fernandes – 5/10

Lack of confidence was clear when he didn’t let fly with his left foot towards the end of the first half. Wasteful with little end product tonight.

Marcus Rashford – 3/10

Yet another lifeless performance from the 24-year-old. He offered very little going forward, being wasteful when he was in possession. He ignored his defensive responsibilities and left Telles to fight an overload too often on United’s left.

Anthony Elanga – 5/10

Was tasked to help Telles defensively in the second half and did limit Chelsea’s right sided threat to an extent, but they still managed to damage United from there. Not enough involvement on the ball in attacking areas.

Cristiano Ronaldo – 8/10

Again, like against Arsenal, Ronaldo was sharp in possession and chased backwards for the team on occasion. He buried his first chance of the game expertly on the half volley, getting United back into the game.

Juan Mata – N/A

PhIl Jones – N/A

Alejandro Garnacho – N/A
