Manchester United will return to the beloved Old Trafford this Thursday evening against Chelsea. The Red Devils will look to bounce back as we provide the predicted line-up for the much-anticipated premier league encounter, with Ralf Rangnick facing his former understudy Thomas Tuchel for the first time since joining United.
After what seemed like an abysmal 3-1 defeat at the Emirates against Arsenal, Manchester United will look to bounce back strongly capturing a result against Chelsea. With the side still well undermanned, with injuries being prevalent amongst the squad, changes to the starting line-up may be very slim.
With the dream of finishing top 4 becoming all but a dream, the pondering thought within Manchester United may be to integrate youth. With Alex Telles’ previous performance being one that he may not want to remember, fans across social media have seen young promising Left-back Alvaro Fernandez featured in the first team training. With a starting position for the young fullback seeming unlikely, a promotion to the bench may be an exciting prospect.
As we have seen, Rangnick has not shunned away from bringing on youth in big games with Hannibal Mejbri brought on in the dying minutes against Liverpool. With the top 4 looking all but over, Rangnick may be inclined to integrate the academy players quicker than expected with a start to one looking increasingly likely.
One change that may be seen is the return of Marcus Rashford into the line-up after being left out against Arsenal. Harry Maguire would also be in contention to return, however Rangnick today confirmed the news that the Manchester United captain will be unavailable for the game due to a minor injury and according to Chis Wheeler of the Daily Mail, this injury could keep him out for the remainder of the season.Embed from Getty Images
With Jadon Sancho also ruled out for the clash against Chelsea, Marcus Rashford will be hoping to lace up his boots in a packed-out Old Trafford and could be a pivotal piece of the puzzle if Manchester United look to play a counter attacking style of play.
In the last encounter against Chelsea, Marcus Rashford started the game and looked lively in what ended up a 1-1 draw. With hurting Chelsea on the counter being a prime solution for Manchester United to achieve a result, Marcus Rashford may be the answer.
