Manchester United take on Liverpool at Anfield on Tuesday night and will attempt to damage the Merseyside club’s hopes of winning the Premier League.
United’s Team News
Ralf Rangnick has confirmed that United will again be without Scott McTominay, Fred, Luke Shaw, Raphael Varane and Edinson Cavani. All five players absence will no doubt be felt considering they would all have likely played some part. The loss of the duo nicknamed ‘McFred’ may be the most damaging of all as it will likely mean the midfield is left to Nemanja Matic and Paul Pogba to screen the defence against a side well known for their attacking capabilities.
After news of Bruno Fernandes being involved in a car accident on Monday morning, there were fears United’s no.18 would be unavailable for the Liverpool game. However, Rangnick confirmed in his press conference that the Portuguese international will still be involved.
Heart breaking news emerged on Monday evening, with Cristiano Ronaldo announcing that one of his new-born twins have sadly passed away. We send all of our love and condolences to Cristiano and his family.
The club have since confirmed that Ronaldo will not feature against Liverpool, as he is spending time with his family during this difficult time.
Liverpool Team News
Jurgen Klopp will have a full squad available to choose from this Tuesday. This news will be most unwelcome after United conceded two at the weekend to a Norwich City side who had only managed six goals away from home in the 15 games beforehand.
Rangnick will have to get his tactics and team selection spot on to stand any chance of stopping Liverpool from gaining another three points in their battle for the league title. A United loss may also result in the club losing further ground in their somewhat laughable efforts to secure Champions League football for next season.
