Man United without five players: Team News vs Norwich

Manchester United face Norwich City at Old Trafford on Saturday in the Premier League but will be without five first team players.

Ralf Rangnick met the media on Friday afternoon and revealed the team would be without Scott McTominay and Fred through injury. The duo have been regular starters since the German’s arrival, so their absence will no doubt be keenly felt. Luke Shaw is another player unavailable after it was revealed the full-back underwent surgery to remove bolts from his right leg, with Rangnick confirming that he will out for “at least four weeks” and is a doubt to return before the end of the season.

United will also be without Raphael Varane and Edinson Cavani, two players who have struggled for fitness since the beginning of the season. The former has managed 25 appearances this season, while the latter has only made 17 appearances for his club side but has often found fitness for his national team.

Dean Smith also spoke to the media on Friday and says both Billy Gilmour and Przemyslaw Placheta are both in contention to be selected for the Saturday 3PM kick-off. The two were previously out through illness and injury respectively.

However, the Canaries will be without young forwards Adam Idah and Josh Sargent. The latter likely to be out for remainder of the season, along with Andrew Omobamidele.

Brandon Williams will also be unavailable as he is unable to face his parent club. The England U21 full-back has played consistently for the relegation-battling side making 23 appearances this season.
