Player Ratings: Manchester United 3-2 Tottenham Hotspur

Manchester United recorded a vital victory against top four challengers Tottenham Hotspur. Despite a Harry Kane penalty and a Harry Maguire own goal, Ralf Rangnick’s men were saved by Cristiano Ronaldo.

The striker returned to the side with a bang, scoring the second hat trick of his Manchester United career which moved the side back into the Champions League qualification spots. Although, Arsenal do have four games in hand on the Reds.

Player Ratings

David de Gea – 6.5/10
Couldn’t do anything about either of the goals and was fairly untested otherwise.

Diogo Dalot – 6.5/10
Back in the team after four matches on the sideline. A decent performance and a vital header off the line in the first half.

Raphael Varane – 7/10
Dealt with most of the things that came his way and did well in possession.

Harry Maguire – 4.5/10
Very poor box defending when he put the ball in his own net for Spurs’ second equaliser of the night. Would’ve felt very grateful when he saw Ronaldo’s late header go in. Performance beforehand was solid but quite shaky afterwards.

Alex Telles – 7/10
Turned his body for a cross and gave away a silly handball in the first half. However, put in a delicious corner for Ronaldo’s winning goal in the late stages of the game.

Nemanja Matic – 6/10
A few nervy moments, but most solid and helped the side in possession of the ball.

Fred – 8.5/10
Very smart flick and run to create space for Ronaldo’s first goal. Impressive on the ball and great out of possession as usual.

Paul Pogba – 5.5/10
Probably his worst performance of the season as he was caught out in possession quite often. Some moments of magic still, but overall he was underwhelming.

Marcus Rashford – 6/10
A quiet game for the out of form Englishman, however, he was tracking back and making better decisions than usual. Hopefully something to build on for the games coming.

Cristiano Ronaldo – 10/10
An unbelievable first goal was added to by a poachers finish until Spurs thought they snatched a draw. Then, United’s no.7 came in clutch with a brilliant header to complete his hattrick. A phenomenal return to the pitch for the Portuguese captain who missed out on the Manchester Derby through injury.

Jadon Sancho – 8.5/10 Another brilliant performance from the winger. Decision making on point as usual and constantly dangerous in attacking situations. Perfect run and pass to assist Ronaldo’s second goal. Although, he should’ve scored when Edinson Cavani set him up in the last minute.

Anthony Elanga – 6/10 Not too involved off the bench but lively and worked hard for the latter stages of the game.

Edinson Cavani – 7/10

Amazing pass to Sancho in the last minute and was unforunate to not register an assist.

Victor Lindelöf – N/A
