The Varane saga:
United close to agreeing terms
Manchester Evening News have claimed that United are not ‘far-off’ from agreeing personal terms with Raphael Varane and hope to conclude the deal in the next few weeks.
They further add that Varane’s preference is to head straight to Manchester following his holiday, rather than have to return to Real Madrid for any pre-season training. Although the negotiations are slow, there is confidence that Varane will join United this summer.
Sky Sports reporter Dharmesh Seth has also said that United are still talking to Raphael Varane’s representatives over personal terms and once they’re agreed, they will talk to Real Madrid to discuss a fee. Varane is open to a move but United are still cautious as they don’t want a ‘Ramos 2015′ repeat.
Simon Stone from the BBC, also backed these claims suggesting that United have spoken to Varane’s representatives and Real Madrid, with the player open to move to United.
Madrid hope to get response next week
Spanish Outlet Mundo Deportivo has suggested that Varane has not responded to Madrid’s contract renewal offer, but he feels that the money offered is insufficient. Madrid are hoping to get a response from Varane, when he returns from holidays next week. They further add that Madrid know United are interested and are ready to listen to offers starting from €50m.

West Ham cannot afford Lingard
