Gabriele Biancheri joined Manchester United from Cardiff City in February this year and has detailed the ‘difficult moments’ he has experienced so far.

Biancheri, 16, signed for the club earlier this season as a scholar and will go onto sign a professional deal at Old Trafford when he turns 17 in September.

The Welsh forward attracted interest from various clubs such as Chelsea but chose to move to Manchester in what he calls a ‘dream’.

He made three appearances at the U17s European Championships in May, scoring once against Poland and celebrating by putting his index finger to his temple in a similar fashion to Marcus Rashford.

Biancheri played three times for United in the Under-18s Premier League this season, scoring once against Leeds United.

The teenager reflected on his first months at the club following Wales’ exit in the European Championship qualifiers.

“It’s gone really well. There have been a couple of difficult moments, like leaving home, not being with my family, moving houses, moving away from my friends,” he said to the FAW’s Red Wall+ channel. “But this is what I’ve always wanted, to play for a team like Man United, it’s a dream come true.”

Biancheri is the latest along a line of exciting youth talents joining Man United. In 2020, Charlie McNeill, Marc Jurado and Alejandro Garnacho joined from Manchester City, Barcelona and Atletico Madrid respectively. Garnacho has risen into the first team this term and earned major plaudits from his teammates.

Ethan Ennis was snatched from Liverpool in the summer of 2021, however, the talented youngster tore his ACL in August last year which has stunted his development thus far.
